English Language and Literature, 1980
International bestselling author, Anne Jirsch took the first step on her journey to becoming a successful writer with a course at Langley College back in the early 1980s.
After taking a couple of O Levels at school and starting a family, Anne decided to return to education in her mid-twenties to improve her reading and writing. It was at Langley College, where she studied English Language and Literature along with Sociology, that she gained the skills and confidence to pursue her writing ambitions.
“I am proud to be an alumnus of Langley College,” said Anne. “I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the College. My reading and writing skills were quite poor when I first started at the College aged 24. However, the lecturers were so encouraging and supportive that my confidence and my ability improved dramatically.
“My time at college has had a huge impact on my life. My lecturers, Mrs Alcock and Mrs Coulton, were really inspiring and went out of their way to help me. They really believed in me and taught me to believe in myself. Now, I have written four bestselling books and have a successful career, which gives me the chance to travel all over the world.”
After graduating from college, Anne got her first article published in the Evening Standard reviewing a television show and landed a job at a local newspaper, The Slough Herald. She was also responsible for the astrology segment on Star FM in the 1990s.
Today, Anne is a successful writer whose books include Cosmic Energy and Create Your Perfect Future. Her books are read all over the world and even include a foreword by renowned hypnotist and author, Paul McKenna. With no sign of slowing down, Anne is already onto her next venture, which includes writing a screen play and various TV projects. Add to this her successful training school in Bray, where she teaches hypnosis techniques, and there is no doubt that Anne has come a long way since her college days.
